Rotaplast Canada is a non-profit humanitarian organization that provides free reconstructive plastic surgery, dental treatments and speech therapy to children born with cleft lip and palate anomalies in developing countries. The primary goal is to eliminate the incidence of untreated cleft lips and palates in children worldwide by the year 2025. We work with Rotaplast International, based in San Francisco, to coordinate medical missions and support their goals of eliminating the incidence of untreated cleft lips and palates in children worldwide and promoting self sufficiency by training local physicians, family counselors and collaborating with health officials to develop sustainable cleft palate programs. Rotaplast Canada involves Canadian Rotarians, non-Rotarians and medical professionals interested in participating in our medical missions. Through the generous support of Rotarians, Rotary Clubs, individual, organizational and corporate donors, Rotaplast Canada has, in its first four years, provided financial and volunteer support for missions to the Philippines, Vietnam, Ethiopia, India and China, helping change the lives of over 600 children. ROTAPLAST, a combined term of ROTAry and PLASTic Surgery, has been adopted as a world community service project for Rotary Clubs and Rotarians. Its focus is on children and adults with cleft lips, cleft palates, and associated deformities. Rotaplast Canada was registered as a charitable organization with the government of Canada in 2004 by members of the Okanagan Mission Rotary Club in Kelowna, British Columbia. It was created to provide information, guidance, coordination and support for Canadian Rotarians and Non-Rotarians interested in the Rotaplast missions. |
